SRPh's proposal The Problem of Multidisciplinary Collaboration in Science, Religion, and Culture: Preparing Community Leaders for the Twenty-First Century has been approved for funding in Metanexus Catalyst Grant program (MGNI), made possible by the support of the John Templeton Foundation.
As a multidisciplinary collaboration, this project will develop new methodologies and strategies to address the gap between knowledge in natural sciences and in theology and the humanities. It centers on multidisciplinary collaboration of professionals representing different scientific and theological fields. Three International Consultations are planed both in the US and Russia during the period of the project time 2009-2011. Involved Russian and American scholars: Dr. N.A. Launching the SRPh educational Project "International MA-Program: Comparative Studies in Religion, Science and Society (RSS)". Renewing education and training the trainers, the project aims to contribute to the formation of new generation of professionals by training the students, professionals and teachers in higher education, well familiar with the globalizing processes in religion, science and society (RSS) by virtue of comparative perspectives on Russian, Western, East-Asian, American RSS, and by this to stimulate the shift of intellectual and spiritual paradigms. The one-year educational Program starts September 2011. Lecturing will be in English by foreign and Russian professors. Participants from Russia and abroad are invited to apply.

The overall objectives of the new networking and research Project "SPECRS Program for the North-West Region of Russia and Internationally World Wide" (2008-2009) is to realize the SPECRS Program, which addresses scholar research and education and fosters the development of a sustainable system of scientific, educational and religious/spiritual partnership in St. Petersburg itself and the surrounding North West Region of Russia by bringing together, on a more adequate level than has hitherto been the case, scholar and educational institutions, educational and scientific centers and associations, religious organizations and churches (Russian Orthodox Church in particular). Interested LSI groups and individuals are invited to cooperate.

The main goal of the new research Project "Review of the Effect of Scholarly Research in Science and Religion in the System of Higher Education in the USA (Case of Philosophy and Religious Studies Departments)", scheduled for August-December 2008, is to provide data based on the experience of the USA in science and religion and how it influences education and, in particular, education in philosophy and religious studies in American universities. In the light of current general reforms in science and education in Russia this research can contribute to better understanding of the future of science and the future of religion.

The new research Project "On the Way to a Comprehensive Ontology" joint application of SPECRS/SRPh and the Interdisciplinary University in Paris to the Russian Foundation for Humanities (Russia) - Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (France). The 1st International Round Table "Mathematics and Metaphysics", is scheduled for 24-26 April, 2008, St.Petersburg, Russia

Voluntary Work of the SRPh students and professors for the charitable organization "Nochlezhka" to help to set up "heating stations" and other services for the homeless. The heating station is a heated army tent where 40 people can spend the night and receive hot meals, medical and social help. This low-barrier service is extremely important during the Russian winter because of the lack of beds available in state and non-state shelters.

"Youth Competition on Contemporary Questions in Science, Culture and Society" organized by SPECRS/SRPh in cooperation with St.Petersburg Association of Scientists and Scholars (SPASS), Museum of World Religions, Anna Achmatova Museum and City Exhibition Hall "Manezh" for graduate students of St.Petersburg secondary schools, 4-19 May 2007.

The E-library ( ) is designed and installed during January 2006-January 2007at the SRPh web site of some 150 authors, more then 300 valuable texts of books and articles (in Russian) on philosophy and history of science, sociology, psychology, arts to improve insights of religious and philosophical foundations of scientific thought. This E-library, started within the GPSS project, is addressed to the students and postgraduates to give them the Internet access to the reading sources in their native language. There is a plan to develop E-library in quantity and to improve its design in the future.
